Road Going Scooters

For road-going mobility scooters, consider models such at the Electric Mobility 329LE or Kymco ForU Maxi XL, Kymco Midi XL or Kymco Super 8 Scooter. Please note that all road-going Class 3 mobility scooters will require a license from the DVLA. When you order we will happily explain how one can be obtained free of charge.

Luxury mobility scooters are far more comfortable and robust than portable and pavement scooters and come with a host of additional features. Most mobility scooters come with independent suspension, large pneumatic tyres, large adjustable seats and adjustable controls. The mobility scooters are road legal and are capable of speeds of 6-8mph. They also have a switch to limit their speed to 4mph to allow them to travel on the pavement.

A larger 8mph mobility scooter is good for covering longer distances on the road since they often have larger capacity batteries. They can also go twice as fast as the pavement mobility scooter so you will get there quicker. However, it will be more difficult to take a large mobility scooter into many indoor areas or shops and they do not normally dismantle easily to go into a car.

Questions to ask when choosing your mobility scooter:-

  • Is the mobility scooter comfortable to ride?
  • Can I get on and off of the mobility scooter easily?
  • Are the controls suitable and comfortable for me to use over a long period?
  • Is the mobility scooter going to suit my needs for at least a few years?
  • Can the mobility scooter carry me and my shopping?
  • Will the mobility scooter be suitable for all types of terrain I anticipate wanting to use it over?
  • Do I need the mobility scooter to be able to climb kerbs?
  • Can I dismantle the mobility scooter to transport it in the car if needed?
  • Does the mobility scooter give me the mileage range I need, not only when shopping locally, but also when I want to visit a place of interest or an environment where I may need to be able to travel greater distances.?
  • Is the mobility scooter stable and safe enough for my needs?
  • Do I have somewhere to store and charge up my mobility scooter?
  • When I take delivery of my new mobility scooter, will it already be unboxed, assembled and ready to use?
  • Is my supplier near to me should I need further assistance & servicing after purchasing a scooter?
