Road Going Scooters
Travel scooters are the most popular category of mobility scooter. A Travel Scooter can be easily transported and broken down into a few smaller and lighter parts. As Travel scooters progress in their design, we pleased to see that most Travel Scooters no longer require the disconnection of leads when taking apart. Just the simple touch of a lever can now safely dismantle a scooter. We have found that some popular and reliable models are the , Pride GoGo Elite Traveller & Traveller Plus Mobility Scooter, Kymco Mini S FoRU Travel Scooter, Electric Mobility 480 Scooter, Shoprider Cameo Mobility Scooter and Patterson Medical ST2 Travel Scooter.. Some types of travel mobility scooter have slightly larger batteries and can carry a more substantial load. While this type of mobility scooter tends to weigh more than their smaller cousins they are very useful for the heavier user or the person who might need to travel a greater distance. Examples of this type of mobility scooter are the, Pride GoGo Elite Traveller Plus Scooter, RMA Shoprider Paris Scooter or the Kymco Mini S FoRU Travel Mobility scooter.

In general, 3 wheel scooters offer the greatest manouevrability but when turning sharply, especially at speed, they may not be as stable. Most reports we have of people falling off a scooter involve 3 wheel scooters usually turning on an incline or slope. So here at TrueMobility, we like to offer a huge choice of 4 wheel mobility scooters for better stability.
A smaller scooter offers easy manoeuvrability and portability but often has smaller wheels which will not easily climb kerbs or cover rough ground. Please be aware that with any scooter the mounting and dismounting of kerbs can be very uncomfortable. Wherever possible we recommend you find a suitable dropped kerb but please don’t overlook this aspect.
On a smaller scooter, you have small batteries which can restrict range but are often better suited for indoor use and ease of dismantling and transportaion.
A larger 8mph scooter is good for covering longer distances on the road since they often have larger capacity batteries. They can also go twice as fast as the pavement scooter so you will get there quicker. However, it will be more difficult to take a large scooter into many indoor areas or shops and they do not normally dismantle easily to go into a car.

How to choose a Powerchair
Powerchairs are usually more difficult to select than scooters. Most of the aspects you would consider when buying a scooter still apply, but generally a powerchair user has more limitations to their personal mobility. Most will probably be using their vehicle more regularly, often all day, and depend on it in their everyday lives.
